Job summary

FortisBC is seeking a Warehouse Clerk in Trail, BC to support inventory and material control. The role involves issuing materials, maintaining records, and assisting in daily warehouse operations on site.

This full-time temporary position offers hands-on learning, potential skill development, and a pathway to higher classification while ensuring safe, efficient warehouse performance in varying conditions.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of material and parts used by automotive, electrical, mechanical and Transmission & Distribution operations.

Responsibilities

• Issue material and parts over the counter, records and posts such issuances.
• Calculates price, balances and maintains inventory counts and records.
• Assists higher classification employees in sending and receiving shipments and maintaining records.
• Physically takes inventory counts, moves, sorts and stocks materials and parts.
• Delivers material and parts to job sites, or picks up material and parts from suppliers and operates vehicles under Class 5 license.
• Maintains housekeeping inside and outside the warehouse; cleans shelves, floors, and associated facilities; clears snow, ice and debris outside.
• Assists in training new employees and employees of a lower classification.
• Carries out other assignments related to warehouse/stock control operation.
• Observes Company and WorkSafeBC rules and regulations.

Position Overview

The duties of a Warehouse Clerk are to provide assistance in the proper and efficient operation of the Warehouse or material stock control operation. The Warehouse Clerk may, through on the job learning and training, develop skills and knowledge which may lead to a higher classification.

Responsibilities

• Calculates price, balances and maintains inventory counts and records.
• Assists higher classification employees in sending and receiving shipments and maintaining records.
• Physically takes inventory counts, moves, sorts and stocks materials and parts.
• When required, delivers material and parts to job sites, or picks up material and parts from suppliers and operates vehicles permitted under Class 5 driver’s license.
• Maintains good housekeeping inside and outside the warehouse by sweeping, dusting, cleaning, vacuuming shelves, bins, floors, and associated facilities; and clears snow, ice and debris outside the warehouse.
• Assists in training new employees and employees of a lower classification.
• Carries out other assignments related to the operation of the warehouse or stock control operation.
• Observes Company and WorkSafeBC rules and regulations.

Requirements

• Basic knowledge of material and parts used by automotive, electrical, mechanical and Transmission & Distribution operations.
• Holder of a Class 5 Driver’s license with ability to operate vehicles in a responsible manner under all types of weather and traffic conditions.
