VP-Pension Solutions

Full Time CA

Vice President, Pension Solutions

Location: [VA, Toronto or Remote]

The role

You own the Pension solutions business unit line including end-to-end: the P&L, go-to-market, strategy, and overall execution. You also collaborate closely and partner with counterparts in product, engineering, PMO, growth, customer care and success to ensure successful customer engagement, delivery, and business execution. This is a general management role. You will be responsible to set the strategy for the business line, build the leadership team that executes it, engage with key customers and attend industry events, and are ultimately accountable for business performance at the end of the year.

You report to the General Manager of the Public Administration business unit and will work closely with existing business line leadership, and peers running adjacent units and central functions. This role is expected to spend significant time in the Toronto region where the existing pension team is largely based.

What you'll own
Commercial performance and P&L
  • Full accountability for the unit's revenue, cost base, and margin
  • Annual operating plan and quarterly reforecasting; you defend the plan and you hit it
  • Pricing, packaging, and commercial terms for the unit's portfolio
  • Capital allocation within the unit — where to invest, where to stop
Go-to-market and strategy
  • Market strategy: which segments, which customers, which problems, in what order
  • Partnering with sales to drive pipeline health, win rates, deal quality, retention and expansion
  • Positioning and messaging in partnership with marketing
  • Supporting key customer and partner relationships; you are personally in the room for the ones that matter
Delivery and execution
  • Partner withproduct to ensure roadmap and the trade-offs behind it align with long-term business objectives
  • Delivery and operational performance — on-time, on-quality, on-margin
  • The feedback loop between what the market is telling you and what gets built
  • Balancing near-term revenue commitments against the long-term investments the businesses need
Team and organization
  • Build, lead, and develop the leadership team
  • Org design: the structure, the roles, and the sequencing of hires
  • Set a performance bar and hold it — including the hard calls
  • Create the operating rhythm: planning cadence, business reviews, decision-making norms
What we're looking for

Required

  • BA/BS degree in related field or equivalent experience required; Masters preferred
  • 15+ years of directly related experience in Pension required
  • Demonstrated P&L ownership at meaningful scale, with results you can speak to concretely
  • Significant experience and network in the sector, and understanding of the records & DPS software market
  • Track record leading a commercial function — you have carried and delivered a number, not only supported one
  • Real fluency in softwaredelivery; you can hold your own with a product or engineering leader and be respected in the conversation
  • Experience building and leading leadership teams, including hiring and managing senior people
  • Strong commercial and financial judgment — you read a P&L quickly and know which levers actually move it
  • Comfort with ambiguity and incomplete information; you make decisions and adjust rather than wait

Strongly preferred

  • Experience in related state and local government markets
  • Have operated across the range — scaling an established line and standing something up from near-zero
  • Experience in a multi-unit or matrixed organization where influence matters as much as authority
