VP of Human Resources and Health and Safety

Dallan Group o/a Dallan Forestry is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Vice President of Human Resources and Health and Safety to lead our HR and H&S functions across multiple worksites in Northern Ontario. This critical role reports directly to the General Manager or President and is responsible for overseeing both the human resources team, including an HR Generalist, and the health and safety team.

As a unionized forestry operation, we require a leader with proven expertise in collective bargaining, labour relations, and ensuring comprehensive compliance with all relevant provincial legislation. The successful candidate will drive strategic initiatives in workforce planning, talent management, and policy development tailored to our unique operational environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage all strategic human resources and health and safety initiatives.
  • Act as the lead negotiator during collective bargaining processes.
  • Ensure compliance with Ontario's Employment Standards Act, 2000, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and Labour Relations Act, 1995.
  • Oversee the administration and interpretation of collective agreements, including grievance handling and arbitration.
  • Manage and develop the HR and Health and Safety teams.
  • Ensure adherence to sector-specific health and safety requirements for forestry operations, including mandatory training and Joint Health and Safety Committees.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation.
  • Health and safety certifications such as Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Certified Occupational Health and Safety Professional (COHSPROF) are highly valued.
  • Several years of progressive HR experience in unionized environments, with significant supervisory and leadership experience.
  • Proven experience in collective bargaining and labour relations.
  • Experience in the forestry or resource sector is considered a significant asset.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges associated with remote, multi-site operations in resource sector.
Compensation

The pay range for this position is $95,000 - $125,000, depending on experience and qualifications.

Work Environment

This role requires a minimum of 44 hours per week and availability at all times to support our multi-site operations across Northern Ontario.
