Job description

Location: Remote, based in Canada or USA

Reports to: CEO

Practice Area: Revenue Marketing / Growth Consulting

About the Role

We're looking for a VP of Growth Strategy Consulting to help our clients answer the foundational question that everything else in revenue growth depends on: who are we selling to, what do we say to them, and why should they care? This person will work directly with client leadership to build (or rebuild) the strategic foundation including ICP, segmentation, positioning, messaging, and content strategy, that our Revenue Marketing services and programs execute against.

This is a contract/fractional engagement suited to a senior strategist who has done this work repeatedly at a high level and can move quickly across multiple client engagements without a long ramp-up period. You'll operate as a senior advisor and hands‑on architect, producing strategic frameworks that are sharp enough to survive contact with a sales team and a content calendar.

What You'll Do
  • Lead buyer and customer journey mapping and persona research projects, enabling our clients to understand what buyers and customers are thinking, feeling, and doing in each stage of their journey.
  • Design and activate voice of customer research, including win‑loss interviews, customer interviews, or survey programs to validate ICP and messaging assumptions with real data.
  • Lead ICP (Ideal Customer Profile) development including firmographic, technographic, and behavioral criteria, validated against client win/loss and pipeline data, not just assumptions.
  • Design segmentation strategies (by vertical, persona, account tier, buying stage, etc.) that are usable by both marketing and sales, not just analytically interesting.
  • Develop positioning frameworks, including competitive differentiation, category definition/entry, and value proposition architecture.
  • Develop competitive intelligence & market landscape analysis since positioning is only as good as the competitive research underneath it.
    • Build messaging frameworks and hierarchies (corporate, product, persona-level, and campaign-level) that flow logically from positioning.
    • Define content strategy including pillar topics, formats, channel strategy, and how content maps to the buyer journey and segmentation model.
    • Developing and activating sales enablement strategies, ensuring messaging/positioning gets translated into sales talk tracks, battlecards, and objection handling.
    • Developing the GTM strategy for launches, including new product, new market, or new segment launches, where ICP/positioning/messaging get pressure-tested against a real go-to-market plan.
    • Contribute to practice development: methodology, frameworks, accelerators, POVs, and case studies that strengthen the firm's offering.
    • Support business development, helping to scope engagements, contribute to proposals, and participate in sales conversations as a subject matter expert.
Cross-Functional Handoff Responsibilities

Your deliverables become the foundation for our Revenue Marketing Services engagements. You're responsible for ensuring ICP, segmentation, positioning, messaging, and content strategy are handed off in a form specific enough to build campaigns, scoring models, and enablement assets.

What You Bring
  • 10+ years in B2B brand/growth/positioning strategy, including senior in‑house and/or consulting experience.
  • Demonstrated track record building successful ICP, segmentation, and positioning frameworks.
  • Strong research chops. Comfortable running win/loss interviews, synthesizing competitive intelligence, and turning qualitative input into a defensible strategic framework.
  • Excellent writing and narrative construction skills; this role is as much about crafting language as it is about strategic frameworks.
  • Experience facilitating executive workshops and driving alignment across marketing, sales, and product stakeholders.
  • Comfortable operating independently as a contractor across multiple client engagements with minimal onboarding time.
  • Familiarity with how positioning/messaging connects downstream to demand generation, sales enablement, and revenue marketing execution.

Demand Spring is committed to providing an inclusive and accessible selection process. If you require accommodation at any stage of the application or selection process, please let us know and we will work with you to meet your needs.
