Jim Pattison Volvo Cars Surrey is seeking a Red Seal Technician to join our service team. You will diagnose, repair, and maintain vehicles to the highest safety and reliability standards, delivering quality workmanship and customer satisfaction.

The role is full-time (40 hours per week) with Saturday rotations. Compensation ranges from $40 to $46 per flat-rate hour, with annual earnings between $83,200 and $135,000+, depending on proficiency and efficiency under the flat-rate system.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain vehicles to high safety and reliability standards.
• Perform thorough vehicle inspections and document findings.
• Identify issues, propose solutions, and communicate with Service team.
• Coordinate with Parts to source needed items and advise on safety work.
• Conduct road tests and pre-delivery inspections on new inventory.
• Maintain shop cleanliness, safety, and confidentiality; support team and management.

The Jim Pattison Volvo Cars Surrey has an exciting opportunity for a Red Seal Technician to join our dealership. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting our Service Department by accurately diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining vehicles to the highest standards of safety, performance, and reliability.

Schedule : This is a full-time, permanentrole of 40 hours per week. Including Saturday rotations.

Pay Range : $40–$46 per flat rate hour (based on Volvo certification level)

Expected annual earnings: $83,200–$135,000+ per year ( Actual earnings vary based on technician proficiency and efficiency under the flat ‑ rate system).

This role reports to the Service Manager of the dealership.

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain vehicles in accordance with manufacturer and dealership standards
• Perform thorough vehicle inspections with accurate documentation and measurements
• Identify mechanical and electrical issues, recommend solutions, and communicate findings clearly to Service team
• Partner with Service Advisors to provide updates on repair timelines or recommend additional safety work
• Conduct road tests and pre-delivery inspections on new inventory to ensure every vehicle leaving the shop is in top condition
• Coordinate with the Parts Department to source what you need and manage warranty labeling
• Assist fellow technicians when needed to maintain overall shop productivity
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment at all times
• Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety standards
• Ensure a high degree of confidentiality with company and customer information
• Participate in maintaining a supportive and engaging working environment

What We’re Looking For

• Automotive Service Technician Red Seal Certification or currently in the process of challenging it
• Previous experience as an automotive technician is required
• A valid BC Driver’s license is required, including a satisfactory Driver’s Abstract is required
• Able to operate both manual and automatic transmission vehicles
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills, with a keen attention to detail
• Detail oriented, with the ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities
• Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
• Reliable, punctual, and dependable
• Ability to work the physical requirements of a service technician role
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 60 pounds
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • High level of mobility, dexterity, endurance, and sensory awareness
• Ability to work in an automotive shop environment
  • Indoor automotive shop with multiple service bays
  • Exposure to noise (engines, air tools), fumes (exhaust, solvents), and dust
  • Work performed around moving vehicles, hoists, and heavy equipment
  • Temperature can vary (shops may be cooler in winter, warmer in summer despite heating/ventilation)
