About the role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular full-time Volunteer Resources Coordinator to join our dynamic Support & Operations team in British Columbia .

TheSupport & Operations team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by collecting donor blood in a safe manner to enable safe products which save lives every day. In this role you will be responsible for implementation of the volunteer resources plan to support regional collection plans, priorities and objectives. You will be responsible for volunteer recruitment, training, scheduling, supervision, performance assessment and recognition. You will also be responsible for maintaining all volunteer program standards and systems in accordance with the volunteer-involvement risk management framework as well as participate as an active member of the Support and Operations team.

  • Utilizing your knowledge and experience in volunteer management and recruitment, you will perform volunteer needs assessments for designated areas, prepare the volunteer placement schedules and arrange and conduct recruitment activities; you will also match volunteer recruits to assignments; arrange or conduct volunteer orientation and training; employ and maintain volunteer records in required databases and produce data reports as required.
  • Drawing on your excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you will establish partnerships within the community to promote the blood program, as well as foster positive and regular communication with customers and partners.
  • Using your planning and organizational skills, you will coordinate appreciation and recognition activities.
  • You conduct all activities according to Volunteer Program policies, practices and standards in compliance with the volunteer-involvement risk management framework.
Desired education and skills
  • Post-secondary education in Volunteer Management or another related field.
  • Experience working with volunteers and volunteer groups.
  • Experience in community development and networking.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience in volunteer program management or a combination of education and on the job experience.
  • Access to own vehicle and Valid driver’s license are required for attending in-person regional responsibilities.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communications skills are essential.
  • Demonstrated computer skills, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Public speaking and presentation skills

What you can expect
  • Shifts/hours - Work days, Monday - Friday 0800 - 1600. Flexible work schedule is required as events occur during the day, in the evening, and on weekends.
  • Travel requirements – this role will require you to travel sometimes to different regions in Canada.
  • Physical requirements – Must be physically able to complete job duties which includes: lifting up to 50 lbs, loading/unloading vehicle, setting up venue, long periods of travelling, and standing and/or sitting.
