The Saul & Claribel Simkin Centre is a 200-bed Jewish Personal Care Home dedicated to serving older adults of all backgrounds with compassion, dignity, and excellence in care. We are currently seeking an experienced and people-oriented professional to join our team as a Volunteer Engagement Specialist (0.6 EFT) for a three-year term.

Volunteer Engagement Specialist

Part Time .6 EFT – 3 Year Term

Hours of Work: Primarily daytime hours, with flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends as required.

We are currently seeking an experienced and people-oriented professional to join our team as a Volunteer Engagement Specialist (0.6 EFT) for a three-year term.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Volunteer Engagement Specialist is directly responsible to the Manager of Resident Experience. This position is responsible for all volunteers and volunteer related programming. This includes but is not limited to volunteer recruitment, management of existing volunteer base, initiation and management of new volunteer programs, filling volunteer requests from within the facility and management of volunteer data base.

QUALIFICATIONS

Certificate or Diploma in Volunteer Administration, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

SKILLS and EXPERIENCE
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience working with volunteers.
  • Proven expertise in volunteer management within a healthcare or community setting, including recruitment, retention, performance evaluation, recognition, and task delegation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and strong interpersonal abilities to build trust and foster collaboration.
  • Highly organized, with the ability to plan, schedule, and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience designing and delivering educational programs or presentations for youth and adults.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Photoshop, social media platforms, and volunteer management software.
  • Demonstrated initiative in launching and sustaining volunteer programs and community partnerships.

Proven ability to cultivate and sustain strong relationships with community organizations, families, and individuals to support facility goals and resident engagement.

KNOWLEDGE
  • Knowledge of Jewish culture, values, traditions, and practices is an asset.
  • Previous experience in a long-term care or healthcare environment is preferred.
