The Leaders we want

Responsibilities

Your ability to commit time is an important aspect of being a Board Director. The Board meets 5 times/year (4 days: 10:30 pm – 7:30 pm), with a preference to in‑person attendance in Edmonton, and we have two Board committees (the Audit and Finance Committee and Governance and Nominating Committee) who each meet 4–5 times/year. From time to time we also have special task forces that are established that would require additional time commitment. This translates into 40–50 hours/year of meeting time. Additional time is also needed for reviewing Board and committee materials in advance of meetings, and for the annual and ad‑hoc tasks required by the committees.

Qualifications & Experience

Candidates should have a demonstrated record of community involvement, a commitment to the YMCA’s values, and the ability to dedicate 40–50 hours/year to Board duties. Experience on a board, in community leadership, or in a non‑profit setting is preferred.

Application Process

If you feel that you can contribute to our community through the YMCA, please submit a cover letter in confidence, including your resume to Helena Hawryluk & Ken Glover, Co‑Chairs of the Nominating Committee. All applications must be submitted electronically via our online recruitment system.
