Responsibilities

  • 60% - Edit the videos to ensure useful content that is high quality and error free
  • 20% - Video production, lighting, filming of A and B-roll, audio
  • 10% - Participate in the script and video approbation processes
  • 10% - Data wrangling and collecting appropriate assets on the website or externally
  • Other duties as assigned

The Role

  • Ownership over videos from start to finish, through understanding the script, shooting A-roll and B-roll, gathering of assets, editing, and publication
  • Focus on clear and to-the-point videos to help people make a buying decision. Identify questions that people might have, and ensure they are answered. Check out examples on our YouTube channelhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U-sZG43bmKo
  • Covers a range of newly released tech across all the different products we test
  • All equipment provided (camera, lights, mic, prompter, computer, etc)
  • Hybrid role – presence in the office required for filming, but flexibility to work in-person or remote for editing

  • You love watching content on YouTube, subscribe to loads of channels – especially data-driven reviews like Gamers Nexus, Project Farm, Vacuum wars, Torque Test Channel, etc.
  • You enjoy structured content and strongly value clarity

Qualification/Experience

  • Good communication English skills, written and verbal
  • Good time management skills and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient with Mac OS and Windows, and able to troubleshoot the equipment
  • 2+ years experience working in production equipment (sound and cameras, all equipment is provided)
  • 2+ years experience as a video editor
  • Proficiency with Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve an asset
  • Experience working with YouTube channels an asset (your own channel or helping manage another)
  • DEP/DEC or BACC in Cinema or Television an asset

Our levels internally, based on experience:

Videographer/Editor I
Entry level position, but other levels can be achieved within two to three years of employment
Salary Range: $55K - $65K

  • Emerging videographer/editor with potential for growth and a willingness to learn
  • Builds a consistent schedule towards an expected throughput of all types of videos
  • Can solve basic technical issues as they arise
  • Manages responsibilities within each project with basic organization for video files and assets

Videographer/Editor II
Note: Further Advancement exists beyond this role.
Salary range: $68K - $83K

  • Competent videographer/editor, consistent high-quality work
  • Has a consistent schedule and is able to overcome new challenges with new videos, formats, or styles
  • Solves complex technical problems independently and implements new solutions for workflow efficiency
  • Independently manages all responsibilities within projects with strong organization.
