Ecotrust Canada’s Community Fisheries Program has been deeply rooted in community and solution-building in coastal BC for over 20 years. Our fisheries vision is for resilient fisheries—fisheries that meet the immediate social and economic needs of adjacent communities, without compromising ecological integrity or the ability of future generations to meet their needs.
The Video Analyst & At Sea Observer will report to Kathryn Bond, North Coast Fisheries Project Manager, and will work under the day-to-day supervision of Lyndsey Bodgener, North Coast Fisheries Project Coordinator, in our Prince Rupert office. This dual-role position combines office-based video analysis with at-sea observer duties. Video analysts review fishing fleet footage to collect quality data using Ecotrust Canada’s specialized software. As designated At-Sea Observers, staff participate in Ecotrust Canada’s At-Sea Observer Program (ASOP), which operates under the direction of Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO). All training is provided for both aspects of the role.
