Purpose of the Job

The Vice President, Personal Lending Transformation is the business transformation executive responsible for redesigning Personal Banking’s end-to-end personal lending processes and enabling measurable improvements in speed, cost, broker and customer experience, control effectiveness and scalability. The mandate covers all Personal Banking lending processes, which today include Single Family Residential (SFR) mortgages across Uninsured Alternative and Insured Prime lending, as well as Reverse Mortgage (REM) lending. The role owns the strategy, roadmap, business architecture and program delivery for process transformation, using AI, intelligent automation and technology modernization as key enablers while partnering with Technology on technical architecture and delivery.

Transformation Strategy, Roadmap and Governance
  • Lead the end-to-end transformation roadmap for Personal Banking lending processes, spanning intake, underwriting, fulfillment, funding and post-funding handoff across SFR and REM lending.
  • Set the vision, business architecture, target operating model, sequencing, investment needs and measurable outcomes aligned to Personal Banking priorities, customer and broker needs, risk requirements and enterprise technology standards.
  • Track baselines, benefits and outcomes across speed, cost, pull-through, productivity, service quality and control effectiveness.
End-to-End Process and Operating Model Design and Execution
  • Design and implement simplified, scalable processes, workflows, decision rules, authorities, service standards and ownership across the lending value chain.
  • Redesign roles, handoffs and decision points to improve speed, quality and accountability while preserving appropriate credit judgement, control and oversight.
  • Ensure the future-state model supports multiple products and channels and is embedded through frontline partnership and sustainable ways of working.
AI, Intelligent Automation and Technology Modernization
  • Own the AI, automation and process modernization agenda from use-case prioritization and business case through implementation, adoption and benefits.
  • Deliver capabilities including intelligent document processing, automated income analysis, workflow automation, digital document exchange and rules-based decisioning.
  • Define target business architecture for the application-to-funding journey, including workflow, roles, decision rules, data needs, controls and business capability requirements.
  • Partner with technology, architecture, data, risk, privacy, legal, compliance and business teams to ensure solution design and delivery meet business, control and enterprise standards.
Risk, Controls and Regulatory Alignment
  • Ensure transformation changes strengthen credit, operational, regulatory, data, model, privacy, security and audit controls.
  • Embed controls into workflows and reduce risks from manual handling, inconsistent calculations, fragmented systems and unclear ownership.
  • Partner with oversight functions and internal audit to validate control design, support implementation and maintain clear documentation of decisions, rules, controls and benefits.
Leadership, Talent and Change Adoption
  • Build and lead a multidisciplinary transformation team spanning process, product, technology, data, AI, delivery and change.
  • Lead stakeholder engagement, communications, training, capability building and adoption of new processes, tools and decision practices.
  • Build strong partnerships across Personal Banking, technology, risk and enterprise functions to sustain a coordinated transformation agenda.
Let's Talk About You!
  • Undergraduate degree in business administration, commerce, finance, economics, engineering, computer science or a related discipline.
  • At least 12 years of progressive financial services experience, including significant exposure to mortgage or consumer lending operations, origination or technology.
  • At least 7 years leading large-scale transformation, including business cases, delivery and realized benefits.
  • Advanced knowledge of residential mortgage origination, underwriting, fulfillment, funding, post-funding activities and servicing handoffs.
  • Working knowledge of lending technology, including loan origination, workflow, decisioning, intelligent document processing, integrations and cloud-enabled platforms.
  • Practical knowledge of AI and automation, including data, model risk and privacy controls in a regulated environment.
  • Exceptional executive communication, influencing, people leadership, change management and analytical decision-making skills.
  • Master’s degree, such as an MBA, or a professional designation such as CFA, CPA or FRM.

  • Solves complex cross-functional problems across process, experience, technology, data, risk, controls and organization design.
  • Translates ambiguous strategic objectives into practical roadmaps, investment choices and measurable outcomes.
  • Balances speed, cost, growth and experience with credit, operational, regulatory, model, privacy and technology risk requirements.
  • Uses data and structured analysis to identify root causes, test assumptions, prioritize initiatives and recommend solutions.
Accountability
  • Reports directly to the Executive Vice President, Personal Banking and participates as a member of the Personal Banking senior leadership team.
  • Accountable for the transformation roadmap and the realization of committed cost, revenue, service and experience benefits.
  • Accountable for target business architecture and future-state process design, partnering with Technology on technical architecture and delivery.
