Job Description

The Vice President, Finance will join BAM’s Global Financial Reporting team and will report into the Senior Vice President, Finance. Located in our head office in Downtown Toronto, the Vice President, Finance role is a highly visible position that provides a solid foundation and exposure to a progressive and dynamic career with a leading global asset management firm. The Vice President will take a leading role in the financial reporting function across the global BAM organization with key responsibilities associated with quarterly and annual financial reporting processes and certain ad hoc special projects as they arise.

Responsibilities
  • Take a leading role in the preparation of BAM’s consolidated financial statements and public disclosure documents on a quarterly and annual basis, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting guidance and related disclosures
  • Assist in the production and review of financial reporting deliverables provided to the Board and senior management
  • Assist in the analysis and resolution of complex technical accounting issues and the execution of regulatory updates, including the coordination with auditors and operating business groups
  • Support internal and external audit teams in relation to quarterly reviews, the annual audit and SOX compliance
  • Collaborate regularly with operating business groups and various BAM departments
  • Continuously look for efficiency in our processes, tools and reports and make suggestions to implement these into our framework
  • Assist as needed with due diligence related to capital market activity, ad-hoc analyses and presentations on financial and operating results, investor queries and special projects
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Ten (10) years of progressive work experience in an accounting or auditing function
  • A recognized professional accounting designation (CPA, CA)
  • Extensive experience with SEC public company reporting requirements under US GAAP
  • Strong technical financial accounting knowledge
  • Leadership and interpersonal skills, and the willingness to always support the team
  • Highly organized and able to work in a dynamic, complex and fast-paced environment, as well as adapt quickly to manage changing priorities and deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated and pro-active, with respect to both managing workload and professional development
  • Knowledge of HFM, Workiva, and financial reporting experience an asset
