Construction Project Manager

Horseshoe Hill Construction Inc. is a Canadian owned and operated construction firm specializing in Concrete Bridge Construction & Rehabilitation, Parking Garages and other specialty work such as Waterproofing and Shotcrete Services. We are currently looking for an experienced Construction Project Manager to join our team and assist with Western Region projects. The successful candidate will oversee projects from conception to completion, interfacing with construction professionals and clients. A willingness to travel and work on job sites is required. The position offers benefits, competitive salary, and paid time off. The role includes both hands-on and administrative duties.

Requirements / Attributes

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in heavy civil construction with emphasis on bridge rehabilitation/replacements.
  • Strong computer knowledge including Microsoft Office; experience with Heavy BID Construction Software (HCSS), Outlook, and familiarity with tender management sites.
  • Understanding of cost-based risk analysis.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team with strong delegation skills.
  • Dependability and ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality.
  • Good time management and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • General knowledge of construction principles/practices; experience on projects over $1 million.
  • Experience dealing with subcontracts, subcontractors, and/or self-performed work.
  • Education: Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent; Certified Program Management Training.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all employees adhere to the Corporate Health and Safety Program and contract requirements; identify job site hazards and ensure ECO and TAS plans are followed.
  • Review and understand contract specifications and drawings; ensure compliance with project management policies (daily diaries, change orders, purchase orders, project photos, schedule updates).
  • Conduct pre-planning meetings prior to project start-up; compile and monitor construction schedules and update weekly.
  • Fourteen two-week look-ahead scheduling in coordination with the Superintendent; ensure timely scheduling and delivery of materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
  • Provide quantities and progress payments with Owner’s Representative monthly and submit to Head Office for processing; prepare subcontractor payment certificates for monthly processing.
  • Update job costs weekly; conduct weekly Health and Safety meetings and maintain records with the Health and Safety Administrator.
  • Prepare work for estimation by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents; identify labor, material, and time requirements.
  • Support contract negotiations and administration and manage vendor relationships.
