Veterinary Assistant – Lake Country, BC

Tri Lake Animal Hospital & Referral Centre in Lake Country, BC, has recently expanded and is looking for a dedicated full‑time Veterinary Assistant to join our growing team. We want great team players who enjoy a fast‑paced environment and are passionate about making a REAL difference in the lives of our patients and clients.

Shifts will range from daytime to evening and include overnight rotations, as well as shared weekend shifts. Opportunities for permanent overnights are always available, should a night owl with a preference for these shifts present themselves. Otherwise, the sharing of overnights via rotation helps to maintain a healthy work‑life balance for ALL!

What you need
  • Previous veterinary experience is an asset
  • Exceptional client service skills that build trust and loyalty with clients
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with a dynamic and diverse team
  • Compassion and a nurturing attitude when providing care to clients and patients
  • Ability to remain calm and efficient in stressful situations
  • Positive outlook and enthusiasm for learning
  • Initiative in carrying out assignments independently
Your role will be
  • Assisting Veterinarians and Technicians with client support and treatment of pet patients, including low‑stress restraint techniques
  • Providing support to the Client Care service, occasionally covering shifts in reception when necessary
  • Preparing medications and supplies for clients to take home (per DVM and RVT instruction)
  • Providing compassionate care to hospitalized patients, including feeding and walking
  • Handling and maintaining surgical equipment, including setup, cleaning and sterilization
  • General hospital care, including cleaning kennels, restocking treatment areas, and maintenance of outdoor areas
Compensation

Starting at $18.00 per hour, and up based on relevant experience. Overnight premiums also provided.
