Qualifications

• Licensed to practice in Canada with veterinary degree and full license.
• Experience with soft tissue surgery and dental procedures is preferred.
• Strong communication with pet parents and team-based care.

Responsibilities

• Provide wellness and preventive care including vaccinations and parasite prevention.
• Maintain a full schedule of mixed appointments and accommodate walk-ins.
• Perform routine dental examinations and cleanings and plan follow-ups.
• Support senior pets with monitoring and preventive care for chronic conditions.
• Build trust with pet owners through clear communication and compassionate care.
• Perform routine surgeries such as spay/neuter, laceration repair, and hernia repair.
• Maintain accurate medical records and uphold hospital protocols.
• Collaborate with RVTs and support staff in a team-based setting.
• Flexible weekday and rotating Saturday shifts.

Compensation: Base salary of $110,000 to $130,000, depending on experience, plus a production-based incentive plan

At Birchmount Animal Hospital, we welcome a Veterinarian, DVM, to join our team in Scarborough, Ontario. In this role, you will build strong relationships with pet parents and work closely with our support team to deliver excellent patient care.

Your typical work week will offer a balanced mix of routine soft-tissue surgery, preventative dentistry, diagnostics, and comprehensive wellness care with weekday and rotating weekend schedules.

Responsibilities

• Provide wellness and preventive care, including vaccinations, parasite prevention, nutrition, laboratory screening, and wellness planning.
• Maintain a full schedule of 10 mixed appointments per shift while allowing flexibility to address walk-ins.
• Provide routine dental care, including examinations and cleanings, and identify opportunities for preventive or follow-up treatment.
• Support senior pets by monitoring health, managing chronic conditions, and providing preventive care to maintain quality of life.
• Build trusted relationships with pet owners through clear communication and compassionate care.
• Perform routine surgical procedures such as spay and neuter, laceration repair and umbilical hernia.
• Maintain accurate medical records and follow best practices in patient care and hospital protocols.
• Collaborate within a team-based veterinary medicine environment, recognizing the importance of every role in delivering exceptional client and patient care.
• Schedules: Flexible availability for weekday and rotating Saturday shifts to support our current growing needs.

What You Bring

• A valid veterinarian license allowing practice in Canada; fully licensed from an accredited school, or foreign-trained with CVO certification completed.
• Confidence with soft tissue surgical procedures, end-of-life procedures, dental procedures, grade 1 and 2 and other preventative care or treatment plans.
• A genuine enthusiasm for veterinary medicine and a deep commitment to the health and well-being of our dogs and cats.
• A strong dedication to promoting team-based medical practices, partnering closely with our talented RVTs and support staff.
