Job summary

Scotiabank in Toronto seeks an enthusiastic student for the Velocity Program, an internship/co-op designed to develop cloud-focused software skills within a leading international bank. You will gain hands-on experience across cloud platforms, infrastructure, and software development while contributing to real projects.

During the work term, you’ll be part of a winning team, build your network, and receive ongoing coaching and feedback to help you grow.

Qualifications

• Foundational understanding of cloud or infrastructure concepts.
• Exposure to programming or scripting through coursework or academic projects.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment.
• Curiosity and willingness to learn enterprise cloud technologies.
• Public cloud platforms (e.g., Google Cloud Platform).
• Infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
• Development or scripting languages (Go, Python, Shell, etc.).
• CI/CD tools.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to a customer-focused culture to deepen relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
• Support the development and maintenance of cloud platforms, services, and components to enable safe, enterprise-wide use of public cloud offerings.
• Develop an understanding of how individual components contribute to larger platform products.
• Assist in implementing and refactoring code.
• Assist in ensuring software, programs, and applications meet availability, integrity, reliability, security, and compliance requirements.
• Work with engineers and architects to break down, scope, and estimate tasks.
• Work with application teams to support onboarding onto the cloud platform.
• Participate in planning, retrospectives, and stand-ups.
• Learn to build and operate highly available and scalable software and infrastructure.
