Job summary

Royal Mail is seeking a Level 3 qualified mechanic for Peterborough Workshop (PE4 5PE) on a permanent contract. Earn up to £65k with overtime, working a full-time rota that includes weekends and shift allowances.

You’ll handle inspections, diagnostics and repairs on a variety of vehicles, using your own toolkit and supported by specialist tools. The role requires a Level 3 qualification with experience on light/heavy vehicles, with a valid UK driving licence (HGV trailer experience preferred).

Qualifications

• Advanced Level 3 qualification in Light or Heavy Vehicle.
• Own toolkit for standard repairs.
• Valid UK manual driving licence; HGV/licence with trailer experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, diagnostics, maintenance and repairs on a range of vehicles, trailers, and mechanical equipment.
• Use your own toolkit for routine maintenance and repairs on light and heavy vehicles.
• Access specialist tooling and shared equipment in our modern workshops.

We’re recruiting a Level 3 qualified mechanic at PeterboroughWorkshop on a Permanent contract, with the potential to earn up to £65k including overtime.

Working Hours: Full time

• 39.5 hours per week (excluding meal breaks) (rotating shift pattern; week 1: 06:00
• 14:24, week 2: 13:36
• 22:00).You will be required to work 1 in 3 Saturdays (06:00
• 14:24). In return, you will receive a weekday day off and £53.66 shift supplement.

A bit about the role

• You’ll perform a full range of inspections, diagnostic, maintenance, and repair procedures on a range of vehicles, trailers, and mechanical equipment.
• You’ll use your own personal toolkit to undertake routine maintenance and repair light / heavy goods vehicles.
• You’ll also have access to specialist tooling and shared equipment in our modern, fully equipped workshops.

A bit about you

• Qualified mechanic: you’re fully qualified to an advanced level (Level 3 in Light or Heavy vehicle or equivalent). You’ve got your own toolkit for standard repairs.
• Varied vehicle experience: Proven Vehicle Technician experience working on a wide range of vehicles, for example LCV / HGV.
• Valid UK driving licence: You hold a full manual UK driving licence, preferably an HGV licence with trailer experience.
• High working standards: you take pride in your work and do what is necessary to make sure the job is done effectively.
• Flexible to service demands: you’re able to work on a flexible shift rota. You’re always willing to support your team where necessary.
