Job description
About the Role:

We’re looking for a Vehicle Buyer to join our Wholesale & Dealer Operations team! This is an exciting opportunity to join one of Canada’s largest wholesalers of used cars, helping us grow and optimize our wholesale operations. In this role, you’ll play a crucial part in evaluating and pricing vehicles, managing inbound appraisal leads, and driving auction success. You’ll work closely with the team to shape the future of our wholesale business across Canada.

What you’ll do:
  • Price Wholesale Vehicles: Set competitive reserve prices for all wholesale units, using market data, auction trends, and dealer feedback to balance sell-through conversion and profitability.
  • Allocate Vehicles Across Auctions: Decide which units go to which auction platforms (i.e. Openlane, EBlock, etc.) based on market strength, regional demand, and sales strategy.
  • Represent & Negotiate: Actively represent Clutch inventory in live or timed auctions, negotiating with buyers and ensuring vehicles are presented accurately.
  • Drive Conversion: Own the sell-through conversion KPI for your assigned vehicles, working to maximize sales while minimizing reruns and margin leakage.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Provide pricing and reserve guidance as well as feed market insights back to the acquisition team.
  • Maintain Data Quality: Ensure accurate disclosures, condition reports, and auction listings so that vehicles are marketed transparently and professionally.
  • Improve Processes: Identify and act on opportunities to streamline the appraisal and auction lifecycle, driving efficiencies as volumes scale.
What we’re looking for:
  • Analytical Mindset: Strong ability to interpret market data, identify pricing patterns and make decisions quickly.
  • Negotiation Skills: Comfortable handling objections and working with other dealers.
  • Detail-Oriented: Ensure accuracy in condition reports and listings as well as pricing analysis.
  • Results-Driven: Motivated by clear KPIs and delivering on target.
  • Team Player: Collaborative mindset, open to feedback, and eager to help Clutch build a best-in-class wholesale function.
  • Operational Discipline: Thrive in a high volume, fast paced environment
It’d be great if you have:
  • Experience with online or physical auto auctions
  • Background in automotive appraisal, junior wholesaler, buyer, auction managers or a related field (1-2 years of experience)
Why you’ll love it at Clutch:
  • Autonomy & ownership -- create your own path, and own your work
  • Competitive compensation!
  • Generous time off program
