Overview

Reporting to the Value Stream Product Management Lead, the Value Stream Product Manager is accountable for defining the long-term strategic and future-state product vision and roadmap of the value stream. Driven by future state customer journeys, defined in partnership with business owners and customer experience, the Value Stream Product Manager translates business strategy into product strategy. The role develops and maintains a deep understanding of the product from a user, technical, operations, business, and design perspectives, and uses the understanding to bring high-impact opportunities to the product roadmap. The position is also responsible for the maintenance and continuous improvement of the user journeys over the product lifecycle.

The Value Stream Product Manager participates in Program Increment (PI) planning and events, including Pre-and-Post Planning, to ensure alignment of objectives and milestones. The role is accountable for managing the product backlog, ensuring alignment with the technical roadmap. At the product level, the Value Stream Product Manager is accountable for validating features and releases, fulfilling pre-determined acceptance criteria, and removing impediments and addressing risks.

Responsibilities
  • Define the long-term strategic and future-state product vision and roadmap of the value stream, in partnership with customer experience and business owners.
  • Partner with customer experience to develop and maintain future state journeys.
  • Maintain and continuously improve the user journeys over the product lifecycle.
  • Provide business context, expertise, and guidance at the product level to product owners and agile teams. Ensure product vision and roadmaps are communicated and understood by stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with solution architects, business architects, and system architects, business owners, and product owners to identify, groom, and prioritize features and releases for the product backlog.
  • Lead key stakeholders, business owners, and solution teams to drive collaboration and alignment of product vision.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to product owners including feedback and recommendations to best achieve desired results, removing roadblocks, and addressing conflicts that may impact deliverables.
  • Collaborate directly with product, business, and development teams to maintain requirements and identify potential roadmap impacts.
Qualifications

Education:

  • Degree or equivalent in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • SAFe POPM (Product Manager/Product Owner) certification.

Experience:

  • Seven years of related experience, including three years in product management.
  • Agile product development methodology experience.

Technical Knowledge and Skills:

  • Advance communication skills with the ability to engage, influence, and inspire partners and stakeholders to drive collaboration and alignment.
  • Relationship management and leadership skills with the ability to influence others.
  • Advanced analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to use data and metrics to back up assumptions, recommendations, and drive actions.
  • Ability to quickly absorb complex, ambiguous concepts and organize them into structured requirements.
  • Ability to review and synthesize information and feedback into actionable items.
  • Working knowledge of analytics, user research, and business cases to drive decisions and improve products.
  • Solutions-based thinking with the ability to break down complex concepts into understandable, smaller, and sequential deliverables.
