Job description

A career in Deals Valuations will provide you with the opportunity to help organizations unlock greater value from existing businesses and assets as well as new acquisitions, investments, and complex corporate arrangements. Our focus is on a series of services, such as valuations to support financial reporting, M&A, tax and corporate reorganizations as well as valuation advice including deal pricing and value consulting to support management decisions related to transactions and corporate planning. In short, upon being a member of our team, you will support clients to make profound strategic decisions on value, better conduct business transactions and decisions, and satisfy regulatory requirements leveraging your professional skills and in-depth industry knowledge.

Meaningful work you’ll be a part of:

As a Valuations Manager, you’ll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Understand the business/assets being valued, its historical and projected performance as well as key strengths and challenges
  • Manage the execution of valuation engagements
  • Conduct and review financial research into industry and general economic conditions, discount rates/cost of capital, valuation multiples for relevant public companies and precedent transactions
  • Engage clients in discussions around their business, including operations and financial items to further our valuation analysis
  • Prepare and review complex valuation models to support and arrive at valuation conclusions
  • Prepare and review complex written and verbal materials
  • Perform audit support work including the review of purchase price allocations, goodwill impairment assessments and private equity portfolio company valuations
  • Manage Valuations teams, coaching a supporting team development and sharing technical knowledge across the national and Global PwC network
  • Assist and take part in various internal initiatives (such as digitization, industry specialization, etc.) and business development
  • As part of the Deals group, you will work with colleagues across all lines of services to deliver valuations alongside other services provided by PwC

Experiences and skills you’ll use to solve:

  • An interest in upskilling for a digital world and technology trends, an openness to learning new tools and adapting how you work (Strong command of Microsoft Excel)
  • A demonstrated commitment to valuing differences, developing and coaching diverse teams, and ensuring diverse perspectives are heard
  • Successful candidates will have a strong financial background, including expertise in financial modelling, superior verbal and written communication skills, including preparing and/or coordinating complex written and verbal materials, an investigative mindset with attention to detail with an ability to see the big picture, strong technical/analytical and project management skills, an ability to analyze business situations and a professional and personable demeanor to interact with clients and work effectively in teams
  • This role best suits a team player with a CPA/CA designation (other accounting or finance-based designations will be considered)
  • Completion of the Chartered Business Valuator designation would be an asset
  • Experience as a team leader: supervising diverse teams to create an atmosphere of trust, seeking diverse views to encourage improvement and innovation and coaching staff including providing timely meaningful written and verbal feedback
