Position Overview
The Senior UX Designer will be responsible for designing engaging, user-centered digital products and services that align with business goals and user needs. The role requires expertise in developing user experience strategies, creating intuitive designs, and conducting user research to ensure high-quality, accessible, and impactful digital solutions for citizens and government employees.
Responsibilities
- User Experience / Product Design (40%)
- Develop and execute UX strategies that enhance user interactions and satisfaction with digital services.
- Lead end-to-end design of complex digital products from concept through production.
- Produce design deliverables including mood boards, user flows, wireframes, mock-ups, and interactive prototypes.
- Create design blueprints, information architecture, and presentation materials to communicate design concepts.
- Conduct user research — including planning, participant recruitment, facilitation, and analysis — to derive actionable insights.
- Translate findings into user journey maps, personas, service blueprints, and affinity maps.
- Leverage analytics, user feedback, and performance metrics to inform iterative design improvements.
- Apply industry best practices and accessibility standards in all design work.
- Utilize design tools such as Figma and Adobe XD Studio.
- (Optional Asset) Develop prototypes or front-end components using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Communications (20%)
- Present design concepts and recommendations clearly to stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
- Collaborate effectively with technical teams and business subject matter experts.
- Lead design workshops and facilitate discussions to gather feedback and build consensus.
- Agile Product Development (20%)
- Work as part of an Agile product team, participating in sprints and iterative design cycles.
- Incorporate feedback from testing, development, and stakeholders to refine designs.
- Collaborate with multiple designers on shared projects to ensure consistency and scalability.
- Design Portfolio (20%)
- Provide a portfolio link demonstrating previous UX design work across various digital platforms and products.
Must-Have Qualifications
- Proven experience developing and executing user-centric digital design strategies that drive measurable improvements.
- Strong ability to lead and deliver UX design for complex digital services.
- Proficiency in Figma and Adobe XD Studio.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and collaboration skills.
- Knowledge of web development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) considered an asset.
