Job summary

GeoScan, a T2ue Company, with offices across BC, seeks an experienced Utility Locating Technician in Burnaby to locate and mark underground utilities on-site using GPR and other geophysical tools. You will read plans, interpret data, and produce client-ready reports.

The role requires at least 3 years in utility locating, knowledge of GPR is an asset, and a valid BC driver’s license. Join a safety-conscious, innovation-driven team committed to excellence.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of Utility Locating experience.
  • Experience interpreting or reading location maps, sketches, prints.
  • Valid class 5 BC driver's license and ability to provide a driving abstract as required for company vehicle use.
  • Strong computer skills; CAD and GPS proficiency is an asset.
  • Experience with Electromagnetic (EM) survey equipment and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR).

Responsibilities

  • Visiting various work sites; able to work in all weather conditions.
  • Reading and interpreting site plans, construction prints, and maps to locate subsurface utilities.
  • Locating and marking subsurface utilities using geophysical tools.
  • Providing digital drawings and detailed reports to clients; communicating findings clearly.
  • Following all health and safety protocols.

About the Role

With offices in Burnaby, Kelowna, Victoria, and Courtenay, BC, we are looking for experienced and enthusiastic Utility Locating Technicians wanting to further their careers and grow with our passionate and forward-thinking team. We are the only locating provider in BC with Registered Utility Locator Technicians (RULT) and we take pride in our commitment to innovation and excellence.


Our technicians locate underground utilities on-site using geophysical equipment such as Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), interpret and mark results, collecting data to draft detailed reports such as Subsurface Utilities Engineering (SUE).


The ideal candidate will have an industry-related qualification and utility locating experience. Knowledge of GPR systems is an asset.


Key Responsibilities


  • Visiting various work sites (will be required to work in all weather conditions), as well as work in the office

  • Reading and interpreting site plans, construction print data and maps, to assist in location of subsurface utility facilities

  • Locating and marking subsurface utilities with a range of geophysical tools

  • Providing digital drawings and detailed reports to clients, as well as communicating important subsurface utility findings with clients.

  • Following all health and safety protocols


What We’re Looking For


  • Valid class 5 BC driver's license and can provide a driving abstract as required for use of company vehicle

  • Minimum 3 years of Utility Locating experience

  • Experience interpreting or reading location maps, sketches, prints

  • Strong computer skills, expertise in CAD software and GPS is considered an asset

  • Experience with Electromagnetic (EM) survey equipment, Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR)
