Job summary

Valard Construction is seeking a Utility Construction Labourer based in Battleford or North Battleford, SK. The role reports to the Foreman/Lead Hand and focuses on the operation, maintenance, construction, and salvage of overhead and underground electric distribution systems.

This position follows a Monday–Friday schedule, 7:00 AM–5:00 PM, with longer days when daylight allows. Local residence or relocation is required, and PPE/FR clothing are provided to ensure safe work conditions on site.

Qualifications

• Local Saskatchewan resident or willing to relocate
• Able to pass Drug and Alcohol test
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs
• Able to work outdoors for extended periods
• Must have valid Class 5 driver’s license and own vehicle to sites
• Experience in team-oriented construction environments preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist construction of overhead and underground power lines
• Perform brush cutting and tree trimming
• Read and interpret construction drawings
• Haul materials (poles, etc.) to/from work sites
• Clean up debris and dispose of waste
• Assist with framing or installing structure components
• Support salvage work at electrical facilities
• Complete time sheets and pre-trip vehicle inspections
• Respond to emergencies and outages beyond normal hours

Job description

The Saskatchewan Distribution group is growing, and we are currently looking to add Utility Construction Labourer to our team, based in Battleford or North Battleford, SK.

Reporting to the Foreman or Lead Hand, we are seeking experienced construction Labourers to carry out designated work associated with the operation, maintenance, construction and salvage of overhead and underground electric distribution systems.

Please Note: This position works a Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM schedule (Monday – Thursday, 12 hours / day when daylight allows). Candidates must reside locally in Saskatchewan or be willing to relocate on their own. We also have a PPE and FR Clothing program for our employees to ensure you have what you need to work safely at all times.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Support construction of new overhead and underground power lines and modifications to existing facilities

• Provide brush cutting and tree trimming

• Read and understand construction drawings for specific tasks given

• Haul materials, which includes poles, to and from Work Sites in a safe and efficient manner

• Clean up and dispose of any rock, rubble, trash, concrete and all other waste, debris and material generated

• Assist with framing or installing structure components

• Support salvaging work at existing electrical facilities

• Complete time sheets, vehicle pre-trip inspections and other paperwork as assigned

• Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisors

• Be available to handle urgent or emergency situations, and to restore or assist in restoring electrical service following outages during and after normal working hours including weekdays, weekends and statutory holidays

• Experience in a team-oriented construction environment

• Must have a valid Class 5 driver’s license

• Must have own vehicle to get to site

• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, work outside for extended periods of time

• Must be able to pass a Drug and Alcohol Test when starting and annually
