Davey Tree Expert Co. of Canada, Limited is seeking a Utility Arborist Apprentice/Driver in Manitoba. You will drive a crew to job sites, perform pre/post trip inspections, and support tree pruning and removal services with safety as a priority.

Responsibilities

• Drive a commercial truck with crew and equipment to various job sites.
• Perform and log daily pre and post trip inspections of the vehicle.
• Maintain cleanliness of the truck and interior/exterior surfaces.
• Operate as an active crew member with ground crew and crew leader.
• Perform pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients.
• Assist with setup, debris removal and cleanup at job sites.

Position Overview

As a Utility Arborist Apprentice/Driver with Davey Tree you will be responsible for ensuring the crew and equipment arrive at the job site safely and on time. Once at site you will join the rest of the crew as an Arborist Apprentice; providing your in-depth knowledge and skills to ensure the job gets done right and on time.

Job Duties

• Drive a commercial truck with crew and equipment to various job sites as required.
• Perform and log daily pre and post trip inspections of the vehicle.
• Maintain cleanliness of the truck, keeping interior and exterior of vehicle free of debris.
• Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and crew leader.
• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients.

Including but not limited to:

• Pruning, thinning, and removing deadwood throughout the tree canopy.
• Installation of cables, bracing and lightning protection systems.
• Removal of hazardous trees.
• Properly maintain, prepare, and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more.
• Assist the trimmers and foreperson in job site setup, debris removal and cleanup.
• Abide by Davey and industry safety policies and procedures.
