Qualifications

Parkland County has a Temporary, Full-time position available in the Public Works Department for a Utilities Operator (Maintenance Service Worker V), from approximately January to December 2026. Reporting to the Supervisor, Utilities Operations, you will provide technical and field support services for the County's water and wastewater operations, including making recommendations, arranging for, overseeing, or performing routine maintenance and repairs of County owned and/or operated water and wastewater infrastructure. This position includes a weekend stand-by on a rotational basis or as required.

Ideal candidate qualifications
  • Graduate of a NAIT Water and Wastewater Technician program or equivalent is desirable.
  • Alberta Environment Level 1 certification in water and/or wastewater fields. Preference will be given to candidates with a minimum Alberta Environment Level 1 Certification in water treatments, water distribution, wastewater treatment and wastewater collection.
  • Knowledge of computer applications and SCADA software.
  • Mechanically inclined and familiar with basic hand tools.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in making operational decisions.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License. Upon hire, a current Driver’s Abstract and satisfactory driving record must be provided.
Total rewards

An hourly rate of pay of $40.71 (2026 rate) based on a 40 hours/week schedule.
