Job summary

A leading technology solutions provider is seeking a User Support Technician based in Strathmore, Alberta. The ideal candidate will have a degree in computer science or IT and a strong focus on troubleshooting hardware and software issues. Responsibilities include assisting customers, resolving technical problems, and managing multiple cases. This permanent position offers an hourly rate of $31.00 to $46.75 and requires 1-2 years of relevant experience. Certification in Microsoft, Linux, or Cisco is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Degree in computer science or information technology is required.
  • It is advantageous to be certified for Microsoft, Linux, or Cisco.
  • Prior experience in tech support, desktop support, or a related role is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Windows/Linux/Mac OS.
  • Working knowledge of remote desktop applications and help desk software.
  • Detail-oriented and problem-solving abilities are required.

Responsibilities

  • Discovering hardware and software solutions.
  • Troubleshooting technical problems.
  • Identifying and repairing flaws.
  • Troubleshooting network issues.
  • Hardware and software installation and configuration.
  • Speaking with customers to quickly determine the source of their problem.
  • Giving customers timely and accurate feedback.
  • Customers are guided through a series of steps to solve a problem.
  • Following up with clients to ensure the issue has been resolved.
  • Replace or repair the required components.
  • Assisting with the deployment of new applications.
  • Support is provided in the form of procedural documentation.
  • Managing several cases at once.
  • New technologies are being tested and evaluated.
  • Checking the electrical safety of equipment.
