Job summary

A local furniture upholstery company in Calgary, Alberta is seeking an experienced upholsterer. The role requires discussing fabric details with customers, providing estimates, and fabricating and installing upholstery for various furniture items. A minimum of 5 years of experience and manual dexterity is essential. This position is on-site only, with no remote work options available.

Qualifications

  • 5 years or more experience required.
  • Experience with leather and antique furniture is a plus.
  • Understanding of upholstery fabric, colour, and style is essential.

Responsibilities
  • Discuss upholstery fabric, colour and style with customers
  • Provide cost estimate for upholstering furniture or other items
  • Replace worn-out webbing, springs and other furniture parts
  • Lay out, cut, fabricate and install upholstery
  • Tack, glue or sew ornamental trim, braids or buttons
  • Repair furniture frames and refinish wood surfaces
  • Operate sewing machines or sew by hand
  • Garnish the bottom and the back of a seat with interoven rattan
  • Replace damaged windows and repair upholstery
