Job summary

St. Joseph's HealthCentre in Toronto is seeking a Unit Service Aide to join the Environmental Services team in the Family Birthing Centre.

You will help maintain a safe, clean, sanitary and orderly environment for patients, visitors and staff in accordance with established policies and procedures. You will be responsible for cleaning and refreshing patient rooms (including infant care areas), handling instruments and other medical equipment after deliveries, transfers or discharges, and

Qualifications

• Secondary school diploma or equivalent.
• Housekeeping/unit service aide experience in a related environment preferred.
• Able to perform FULL range of duties in this position, including lifting laundry bundles, sets of trays and instruments (up to 60 lbs).
• Must be comfortable transporting bio-hazardous products (i.e. Blood) and patients.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
• Basic computer skills.
• Demonstrated ability to set priorities.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively and cooperatively with staff and patients.
• Demonstrative initiative and excellent attention to detail.
• Satisfactory attendance record.
