Oak Valley Health in Markham, Ontario, is seeking a Unit Secretary to support a pediatric clinic team including an Endocrinologist, RN, RD, and social worker. You will handle clerical duties and patient registration in a fast-paced outpatient setting.

The ideal candidate has unit secretary experience in childbirth/children’s services, strong typing, Meditech experience, and excellent communication. Monday to Friday, 8:00 am–4:00 pm, with a stable schedule.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a unit secretary in a pediatric/childbirth clinic or outpatient setting preferred.
  • Strong data entry, typing, and scheduling skills with medical terminology.
  • Proficient in Meditech and capable of patient registration and scheduling modules.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clerical and receptionist support to clinic team.
  • Coordinate patient scheduling and registration for pediatric diabetes care.
  • Support interprofessional team to ensure efficient clinic operations.

The Unit Secretary is a valuable member of the team and has a significant impact on the efficient and effective operation of the clinics. The successful candidate will be responsible for both clerical and receptionist duties.What you bring to the role:Recent unit secretary experience in a Childbirth and Children’s Services Clinic or Outpatient Clinic environment preferredDiabetes Clinic experience considered an assetStrong understanding of medical terminology an assetData entry experience preferredExperience with Meditech Web Ambulatory Module is requiredBasic Meditech Booking experienceSound knowledge of medical terminologyWorking knowledge of computer technology with proficient typing skillsExperience with patient scheduling and registration modules is essentialStrong customer service, interpersonal and written and verbal communication skillsAbility to prioritize and manage multiple demands in a fast paced environmentStrong critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills with a high attention to detailExcellent organizational skillsDemonstrated good attendance and performance records with the ability to maintain these same standardsDemonstrates a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with organization related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as requiredWork Schedule:Monday – Friday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm (8 hour days)Please note schedules may change due to operational needs.Compensation:CUP C03Range:$28.69 - $32.28Who we are:Oak Valley Health is one of Ontario’s leading community healthcare organizations.
