A healthcare provider in Alberta is seeking a part-time Unit Clerk at South Health Campus. The role involves managing communication between health professionals and patients, maintaining confidential records, and supporting a multi-disciplinary team. Ideal candidates have a Grade 12 education and an accredited Unit Clerk course. This position focuses on Addiction and Mental Health with flexible hours, including days, evenings, and weekends.

Reporting to the Unit Manager of Psychiatric Emergency Services, Addictions & Mental Health, the Unit Clerk will act as the center of communication and will provide clerical/organizational support for the nursing unit which includes, but not limited to, reception, chart preparation and maintenance, processing orders, ordering and maintaining office supplies and data entry. This individual will handle all information in a confidential manner. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.
Required Qualifications: Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.
Additional Required Qualifications: Knowledge of Connect Care and training required. Ability to multi-task, prioritize in a constantly changing environment. Excellent interpersonal skills, written and oral communication skills within the multi-disciplinary team required. Ability to provide quality patient and family centered care.
Preferred Qualifications: Preferred Addiction and Mental Health Unit Clerk experience, 1-2 years. Knowledge of Alberta Mental Health Act process, with understanding of and history of adherence to the policies and procedures of AHS/Recovery Alberta related to patient care delivery, especially as it pertains to confidentiality and handling client information. Certified in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention.
