A leading insurance company in Kingston is seeking Underwriting Trainees to join their Retail Underwriting team. This is a paid program that offers on-the-job training and the opportunity to develop essential underwriting skills. Candidates need to be driven, collaborative, and possess good analytical skills. The role includes conducting basic risk assessments, supporting customer service initiatives, and participating in ongoing training. Empire life is looking to hire two Underwriting Trainees to join our Retail Underwriting team!
The Underwriting Trainee works to become an underwriter through self-study and on-the-job training. In addition, you will be actively involved in the underwriting process, basic decision-making and the assessment of risk. The selected candidates are guided by defined procedural constraints and work under the moderate supervision of the Manager, Underwriting.
As an Underwriting Trainee, you’ll learn how to review life insurance applications while analyzing, assessing, evaluating, and quantifying risk based on several factors such as medical history, financials, and other determining factors. This is a paid program as you will be reviewing live cases and shadowing colleagues leading up to more independent underwriting towards the end of the training.
