The Underwriting Specialist will be responsible for underwriting and servicing increasingly complex small business accounts while maintaining strong broker relationships and ensuring profitable growth. You’ll collaborate with a dedicated underwriting team, provide guidance to junior colleagues, and help shape solutions tailored to your broker partners’ needs.
Underwrite and service complex small business accounts in accordance with company guidelines and business objectives.
Analyze renewal rates, evaluate risk exposures, and negotiate appropriate terms and pricing.
Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients, providing timely communication and proactive service.
Contribute to underwriting strategy and portfolio management through sound judgment and market insight.
Mentor and support junior team members, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.
5+ years of underwriting experience within commercial or small business lines.
Completed or currently pursuing CIP, FCIP, or RPLU designations.
Strong customer service and relationship management skills.
Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
A team-oriented mindset and desire to contribute to a collaborative work culture.
