About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Underwriting Specialist to join a collaborative commercial underwriting team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for underwriting and servicing complex accounts, building strong relationships with brokers, and delivering tailored solutions to meet client needs. You’ll work within established guidelines while also using your judgment and expertise to evaluate risks, negotiate terms, and provide innovative solutions.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working closely with brokers, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and wants to grow within a supportive team. You’ll also have the chance to mentor junior colleagues while continuing to develop your own technical skills and appetite for complex risks.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Underwriting and servicing mid-to-large commercial accounts.
  • Evaluating, negotiating, and executing renewal and new business terms.
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with brokers and clients.
  • Providing timely service—calls and emails don’t go unanswered, and in-person meetings are encouraged.
  • Coaching and mentoring junior underwriters on the team.
  • Collaborating with peers to support business goals and maintain high service standards.
What We’re Looking For
  • 7+ years of commercial underwriting experience.
  • Completion of (or working towards) a professional designation such as CIP, FCIP, or RPLU.
  • Strong technical underwriting skills with a customer service mindset.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Team-oriented attitude with the ability to mentor and share knowledge.
