Job summary

Sandvik is seeking a licensed Heavy Duty Mechanic (Underground) to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain surface mining equipment components per specifications. The role includes commissioning new equipment and training at customer sites, with overtime opportunities and a comprehensive benefits package.

The ideal candidate has a valid driver's license, 3+ years of mining equipment experience, and strong ability to read hydraulic and electrical schematics, with travel across Canada as required.

Qualifications

  • Relevant trade certification; red seal is considered an asset.
  • At least 3 years related experience with mining equipment is considered an asset.
  • Excellent proficiency in reading hydraulic and electrical schematics.
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical issues with mining equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect equipment for proper performance and determine faults.
  • Adjust equipment and repair/replace defective parts per scope of work.
  • Test repaired equipment for proper operation.
  • Commission new equipment at customer sites.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate time records, technical reports, and parts lists.
