Barminco Mining Services Canada Ltd. is seeking an experienced Underground Heavy Duty Mechanic with strong auto electrical skills to join our maintenance team at the Red Chris Mine in northern British Columbia. This FIFO role operates on a 14 on/14 off rotation with 12-hour shifts.

Base rate is $60/hour with overtime at $90/hour, averaging about 72.86 per hour and roughly $159,120 gross annually. The successful candidate will diagnose and repair complex electrical and electro-hydraulic systems,

Qualifications

• Minimum High School Diploma or equivalency.
• Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic Certification.
• Preferred 3–5 years underground experience as a Heavy-Duty Mechanic.
• Proven auto electrical troubleshooting in mining equipment.
• Strong understanding of electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.

Responsibilities

The Opportunity: Barminco Mining Services Canada Ltd. Is seeking an experienced UNDERGROUND Heavy Duty Mechanic with strong Auto Electrician skillsto join our maintenance team at the Red Chris Mine in northern British Columbia. This role is best suited to a mechanically qualified tradesperson who also possesses advanced electrical diagnostic capability, particularly in electrical-over-hydraulic systems used in mobile mining equipment. Working a FIFO rotation of 14-shifts on and 14-shifts off.

Reporting to the Maintenance Foreman or designate, the UNDERGROUND HD Mechanic will play a key role in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing complex electrical and electro-hydraulic systems to support all areas of the underground and surface equipment in a safe and efficient manner.

Compensation: Your starting base rate is $60/hour, but that’s only part of the picture. With overtime built into your scheduled 12-hour shifts and overtime paid at $90/hour, your average earnings work out to approximately $72.86 for every hour worked.* That adds up to approximately $159,120 gross annually* while working an equal time roster, two weeks on followed by two weeks off. *Estimated gross earnings are based on 12 paid hours per day, a 14-day rotation beginning Tuesday, a Sunday–Saturday workweek and approximately 13 rotations annually. The average hourly figure includes scheduled overtime. Actual earnings may vary based on hours worked, rotation start day and applicable overtime arrangements. Additional travel pay, statutory holiday pay, vacation pay and premiums are excluded from this estimate.

Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

• Demonstrate commitment to following all Mine site safety rules, procedures and regulations, while ensuring the safety of others
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mining equipment and ancillary equipment, including light vehicles as required
• Diagnose and repair complex electrical faults on heavy mobile equipment
• Interpret and work from advanced electrical and electronic schematics
• Troubleshoot and maintain electrical-over-hydraulic systems
• Perform electrical testing, fault finding, and system validation
• Maintain and repair wiring harnesses, sensors, solenoids, controllers, and ECU systems
• Work on CANBus systems and electronic control modules
• Collaborate with mechanical and operational teams to resolve recurring issues
• Ensure projects are carried out in a timely, cost efficient and meticulous manner
• Perform preventative maintenance inspections and services in accordance with the maintenance schedule and/or based on operational requirements
• Document reports detailing work performed, problems diagnosed, pre & post checks and all other required shift paperwork
• Maintain and demonstrate a professional and courteous relationship with employees, subcontractors, the client and all other personnel
• Practice good general housekeeping in the work area and equipment
• Understand and comply with all PPE requirements in work areas
• Other duties may be assigned by your Supervisor, as required

Skills and Experience:

• Minimum High School Diploma or equivalency
• Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic Certification
• Preferred; 3-5 years of experience working underground as a Heavy-Duty Mechanic
• Proven auto electrical troubleshooting experience in a heavy equipment or mining environment, preferred
• Strong understanding of electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, manuals and blueprints
• Demonstrated experience with electrical-over-hydraulic systems
• Ability to diagnose faults using diagnostic software and electrical test equipment
• Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License; manual transmission experience required
• Typical equipment; Sandvik jumbo(s), scoop(s) and haul truck(s), Volvo/Cat front end loaders/telehandler & grader. Toyota land cruiser light vehicles.
• The ability to work both independently and within a team in a fast-paced, rapidly changing, cross-cultural environment with high degree of professionalism and self-motivation is essential
• Proven ability to recognize and follow verbal and written instructions
• Able to effectively prioritize workload to ensure deadlines are met
• Must have good radio etiquette and strong communications skills
• Eagerness to learn and grow

Work Conditions

• Ability to do shift camp work on a rotational basis (dayshift/nightshift), typically the rotations are 2 weeks on site (minimum 12-hour days), followed by 2 weeks off – working statutory holidays as they fall within the rotation
• While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to communicate, sit, stand, walk, climb, reach, push/pull, manipulate objects and work in awkward positions
• Duties may involve moving materials weighing up to 50 pounds
• Manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination are required
• Extreme weather conditions
• Noise level in the work environment is moderate to high
