Job summary

A leading mining company in Canada is seeking a Red Seal Journeyperson Electrician for the Jansen Mine Site. This full-time position involves executing planned and unplanned maintenance activities to enhance equipment performance and reliability. The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role and be able to work both independently and as part of a team. The position offers opportunities for significant professional growth as part of one of the largest mining investments in Saskatchewan's history.

Qualifications

  • Experience working in a similar role with exposure to maintenance work.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with standards and procedures to work safely and effectively.
  • Carry out routine maintenance inspections and checks to underground equipment.
  • Assist with the assembly of electrical systems on mining equipment.
  • Assist in resolution of electrical/mechanical issues.
  • Review and update maintenance schedule plans and equipment history.
  • Transport cable and equipment safely to job locations.
  • Provide skills to perform care maintenance tasks.
  • Develop and revise operating and maintenance procedures.
  • Perform switching and isolation of various types of electrical equipment.

About Potash

The Jansen project in Saskatchewan Canada is set to become one of the largest potash mines in the world and is located approximately 140 kilometers east of CAD$14 billion (US$10.5 billion) investment in the Jansen project will deliver a potash mine in Saskatchewan designed to maximize sustainability. As the largest investment in Saskatchewans history Jansen is expected to generate approximately 5500 workforce opportunities during construction and 900 long‑term roles.

Jansens construction will take place over several years with first production planned for mid‑2027. Once fully ramped up Jansen is expected to have an initial production capacity of approximately 8.5 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) with the potential to produce 16 to 17 Mtpa in future stages. Work Location

This role will be based at the Jansen Mine Site located in Leroy SK. The work schedule for this role will be seven days on seven days off.

Purpose

This position is responsible for executing planned and unplanned maintenance activities within the underground mining environment. Your work will contribute to optimal production equipment performance and availability as well as improving reliability and ensuring that we are well placed for future growth within the mine.

This role will also be part of the assembly and maintenance of the underground borers and belt systems.

About the Role

In this role you will :

  • Comply to and consistently follow the standards and procedures designed to enable you to work safely and effectively every day
  • Carry out unplanned and planned routine maintenance inspections and checks to underground equipment or reticulation networks
  • Assist with assembly of electrical systems on the ug mining equipment.
  • Assist in resolution of electrical / mechanical issues affecting equipment performance and availability
  • Review and update maintenance schedule plans and equipment history
  • Transport cable and equipment safely to job locations and assist in the set up and installation
  • Provide trade skills to perform care maintenance tasks within the mine area to ensure overall reliability and stability
  • Develop and revise operating and maintenance procedures
  • Perform switching and isolation of various types of electrical equipment.
