Job summary

CBI Home Health – Brandon, MB invites applications for an Uncertified Health Care Aide to support clients in their homes with personal care, mobility assistance, meal prep and light housekeeping. You will work with a compassionate team dedicated to safety and dignity, with shifts that include weekday afternoons and evenings.

Ideal applicants hold a PSW certificate or equivalent, CPR Level C and First Aid, and have clear background checks.

Qualifications

• PSW certificate or equivalent required.
• CPR Level C and Standard or Intermediate First Aid certification.
• Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector in last 6 months.
• Adult and Child Abuse Registry Check in last 6 months.
• TB test within last 12 months and up-to-date immunization record.
• Ability to travel between client homes in the community.
• Commitment to work every other weekend.
• Strong English communication; other languages are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care to clients in their homes.
• Assist with mobility and light exercises.
• Observe, document and report changes to Manager/Supervisor.
• Perform light housekeeping as indicated in care plans.

As a Health Care Aide within our CBI Home Health team, you will call upon your nurturing and assisting skills to provide overall care to clients. In this position you will assist clients with personal care, lifts and transfers, toileting, bathing, and feeding. You will also provide light housekeeping support, prepare meals, and be a companion.

Must be available to work the following hours. Monday 13:00 - 16:00 and 17:00 - 20:00, Tuesday 13:00 - 16:00 and 17:00 - 20:00, Wednesday 17:00 - 20:00, Thursday 13:00 - 16:00 and 17:00 - 20:00 and Friday 13:00 - 16:00 and 17:00 - 20:00

What you will do

As a caring, responsible health care team member, you will support clients to be as safe and independent in their homes as possible, helping them to live their best lives. You will provide personal care to clients in their home, and may assist them to mobilize and perform light exercises. You will act at all times with the client and their family at the heart of all you do, observing, documenting, and reporting any changes in their condition to your Manager/Supervisor. You may be required to perform light housekeeping tasks as indicated in client care plans.

What you will need to be successful

• Your Personal Support Worker (or HCA) Certificate or Equivalent
• Current CPR Level C and Standard or Intermediate First Aid Certification
• A clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening completed within the last 6 months
• A clear Adult and Child Abuse Registry Check completed within the last 6 months (if you have not applied, please do it soon as they are taking approx. 6 weeks to complete and if you are successful, these checks must be completed prior to starting)
• Proof of a negative TB test within the last 12 months and an up-to-date immunization record
• Ability to travel from home to home within the community
• Commitment to work every other weekend
• Strong verbal and written English communication skills, with ability to communicate in other languages an asset
• Reliability and strong organization skills
• Ability to safely lift up to 35 lbs. (16 kg)
