Education:
- College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years
Experience
1 year to less than 2 years. On site. Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.
Responsibilities
- Analyze the patient during the treatments
- Operate ultrasound imaging equipment to produce and record images
- Perform minor repairs and adjustments to equipment
- Supervise students in training
- Monitor examination to evaluate quality and consistency of diagnostic images, and make adjustments to equipment, as required
- Train students or other medical sonographers
- Record, store and process scanned images by using camera unit connected to the ultrasound equipment
- Provide personal assistance to patients during treatments
- Prepare examination reports for physicians
- Check ultrasound equipment to ensure proper operation
- Record and process patient data
- Record and process results of proceduresPerform basic verification and quality control checks on radiographic and film processing equipment
- Perform diagnostic procedures using radioactive materials on biological specimens
- Apply radiation protection measures
- Explain procedures and side effects of radiation
- Provide appropriate care and monitoring of the patient during the examination
