The Role
We are seeking a Turnaround Scheduler to join our Turnaround Team located in Central Alberta, near Red Deer. This position reports to the Turnaround Planning and Scheduling supervisor and will support the overall preparation and execution of safe and predictable turnaround events by ensuring all activities are identified and linked in a Primavera schedule, integrated with all Turnaround, Capital Projects, Maintenance and Operational Activities.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Collaborate with integrated support groups of production, maintenance, capital, turnaround, engineering, and projects to develop and communicate integrated execution schedules aligned to asset availability and track progress against completion event milestones.
- Ensure alignment with regional and corporate Turnaround work processes, practices, procedures, and standards.
- Lead schedule optimization activities with the turnaround planning and execution leadership.
- Work closely with Event Managers, Planning and Execution Leadership, OCL employees and contractors.
- As part of the core team, provide daily updates to the turnaround schedule with daily forecasts provided to the execution team.
- Monitor and report integrated schedule progress against plan and develop corrective actions if target KPIs are not achieved.
- Schedule the sequence of work to be executed based on site priorities, asset availability, resource, materials availability.
- Sequence the execution of the TAR scope in a levelled manner.
- Utilize Primavera and Maxavera software tools to enhance planning and scheduling efficiencies.
- Maintain reporting systems for ensuring that documentation is accurate and timely.
- Collaborate with planners in development of work order task lists to ensure high standard of SAP data integrity (including the WBS/AFE structure), in the correct structure to facilitate automated integration with Primavera.
- Analyze and report schedule progress and communicate with Event Manager and Coordinators, and site leadership.
- Work with the Cost Control team to support updated forecast spend and duration using earned value and actuals.
- Coordinate with functional groups in schedule development to maximize utilization of resources.
- Lead and facilitate schedule development, system prioritization and optimization meetings.
- Identify variances to targets and lead problem solving and continuous improvement initiatives.

Skills/Education/Qualifications
- A minimum 2-year technical school diploma with 10+ years of related experience or 12+ years combination of post-secondary technical education and related experience. Candidates with 12+ years of progressive experience in a manufacturing discipline or equivalent technology environment will be considered. Certifications such as the Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) and Maintenance Management Professional (MMP) are considered an asset.
- 10+ years of related scheduling experience in a petrochemical, gas or industrial processing plant or a combination.
- Expert level working knowledge and advanced proficiency with the following: Primavera, Maxavera, SAP PS.
- Proven capacity to create and maintain complex schedules.
- Demonstrated experience in a supervisory or leadership role (Lead Scheduler, Project Coordinator).
- High level understanding of plant system processes.
- Proven ability to lead, develop and implement improvement strategies.
- Strong analytical skills to disseminate and effectively present data.
- Ability to challenge assumptions and explore options widely.
- Ability to engage across departments in support of complex troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
- Communication, interpersonal and effective facilitation skills.
- Capable of working independently and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team.

- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
