Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Lead or support restructuring/insolvency mandates with oversight from senior leadership.
  • Assist companies in financial distress, including preparing for informal and formal insolvency proceedings.
  • Guide management teams and stakeholders through the transaction process, leveraging analytical expertise to maximize value.
  • Run or assist with sale process aspects of insolvency mandates.
  • Conduct industry and business research to support engagements.
  • Draft reports to Court and other documents, including memoranda, letters, and viability studies.
  • Prepare well-structured analyses and presentations for clients and stakeholders.

What You’ll Do
Restructuring & Insolvency Advisory
  • Lead or support restructuring/insolvency mandates with oversight from senior leadership
  • Assist companies in financial distress, including preparing for informal and formal insolvency proceedings
  • Guide management teams and stakeholders through the transaction process, leveraging analytical expertise to maximize value
  • Run or assist with sale process aspects of insolvency mandates
  • Conduct industry and business research to support engagements
Financial Modeling & Analysis
  • Build and analyze integrated three-statement financial models (balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow) to project forward-looking financial performance
  • Prepare and analyze 13-week cash flow forecasts, Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) models, and Leveraged Buyout (LBO) models
  • Prepare and analyze projected recovery analyses across multiple scenarios (e.g., forced and orderly liquidations)
  • Analyze client business plans, debt capacity, competitive positioning, strategy, key contracts and relationships, and regulatory considerations
  • Assist with liquidation and valuation analyses
Business Plan & Viability Assessment
  • Prepare and analyze business plans to formulate viability assessments on businesses or portions thereof
  • Apply business, economics, finance, accounting, and analytical skills to a variety of client situations and practice disciplines
  • Leverage AI-enabled tools to enhance analysis, insight generation, and execution, with sound judgment about when human validation and discretion are essential
Client Deliverables & Communication
  • Draft reports to Court and other documents, including memoranda, letters, and viability studies
  • Prepare well-structured, easily understood analyses and presentations for clients and stakeholders
  • Engage clients at multiple levels, building trusted relationships and delivering consistently high-value work
What You’ll Need
Education
  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Information Systems & Decision Sciences (ISDS), or Management Information Systems (MIS)
  • CPA, MBA, or other relevant advanced designation is a plus
Experience
  • Minimum 4+ years of experience in professional services, including investment or commercial banking, consulting, or corporate roles with a financial or accounting focus
  • Experience in the restructuring, turnaround, or troubled-company arena is strongly preferred
  • Track record of consistently delivering high-value work to meet client needs on complex, multi-workstream projects
Technical Skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities including pivot tables, formulas, financial modeling, and data analysis
  • Proficiency building DCF, LBO, 13-week cash flow, and three-statement financial models
  • Strong knowledge of PowerPoint and Microsoft Word for preparing client-ready deliverables
  • Experience using AI-enabled tools to enhance analytical workflows
Interpersonal & Professional Skills
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills; able to prepare polished reports, analyses, and presentations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; builds relationships effectively with clients and colleagues at all levels
  • Highly motivated, entrepreneurial, and able to work a demanding schedule in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to work independently with high energy, flexibility, and adaptability
  • Willingness to work outside of normal business hours as unique project needs arise
  • Ability to work full time in an office and remote environment

The salary range for this role considers a number of factors and is between $100,000 CAD/year - $140,000 CAD/year with potential eligibility for annual discretionary bonus.
