Job summary

DMC Recruitment Group is seeking a Roof Truss and Floor Designer with solid MiTek experience to join their team in Edmonton, Alberta. You will design efficient, code-compliant roof truss and floor systems for residential, multi-family, and light commercial projects, collaborating with sales, production and customers to ensure designs move smoothly from concept to manufacturing.

Ideal candidates have at least 2 years of roof truss design experience, strong MiTek skills (Sapphire preferred), and

Qualifications

• 2+ years of roof truss design experience.
• Experience with MiTek (Sapphire preferred).
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents.
• Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and ability to work cross-functionally.

Responsibilities

• Design roof truss systems using MiTek software (Sapphire preferred).
• Interpret architectural and structural drawings to develop accurate layouts.
• Produce truss design drawings, layouts, and material take-offs.
• Ensure designs meet applicable building codes, engineering standards, and project requirements.
• Support the sales team with estimates, take-offs, and value engineering opportunities.
• Communicate with builders, contractors, and internal teams to clarify design requirements.
• Revise designs based on feedback, site conditions, or cost optimization.
• Collaborate with production to ensure designs are efficient and manufacturable.
• Manage multiple projects while maintaining accuracy and timelines.

• Background working within a truss plant or building materials supplier
• Engineering technologist diploma or related education
