Job summary

Norspan, a locally owned engineered wood product supplier in Headingley, MB, is seeking an assembler to join our production team. You will set up workstations, assemble trusses, and ensure safety and quality throughout shifts.

You will regularly inspect equipment, maintain a clean workspace, and participate in daily meetings to suggest improvements. The role requires reading work orders and collaborating with the team to meet production goals.

Qualifications

  • Woodworking or construction experience.
  • Ability to read a tape measure (foot-inches-sixteenth).
  • Ability to read, understand, and comply with work orders.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.
  • Detail-oriented with attention to accuracy and safety.
  • Ability to prioritize and work productively as part of a team.
  • Demonstrate willingness to learn and develop new skills.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • To work under the direction of a supervisor to set up the workstation for each order.
  • To assemble trusses in accordance with Company policies, health and safety, and SOPs.
  • To regularly inspect and review equipment condition, material quality, and work quality; report concerns.
  • To maintain a clean workstation throughout the shift and perform final cleanup.
  • To use all equipment and operate machinery safely as trained.
  • To participate in daily meetings and suggest improvements for processes, production, and people.
  • To complete other duties as assigned.

Norspan is a locally owned and operated engineered wood product supply center located in Headingley, Manitoba. We primarily service the Winnipeg Metropolitan Region, providing engineered wood products that our customers can rely on.

The ideal candidate’s responsibilities will be:
  • To work under the direction of a supervisor to set up the workstation for each order
  • To assemble trusses in accordance with Company policies & procedures, health and safety, and Standard Operating Procedures
  • To regularly inspect and review the condition of the equipment, the quality of the materials being used, and the quality of the work being performed/completed, and advise the supervisor of any concerns
  • To maintain a clean workstation throughout the shift, in addition to a final clean-up shortly before the end of the shift
  • To be responsible for using all equipment and operating all machinery in a safe, correct, and careful manner (as trained and instructed)
  • To actively participate in daily meetings and offer suggestions for continuous improvement for processes, production, and people
  • To complete other duties as assigned
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Woodworking and/or construction experience
  • Demonstrated the ability to use a hammer and read a tape measure in the foot-inch-sixteenth method
  • Demonstrated the ability to read, understand, and comply with work orders
  • The ability to work independently and cooperatively in support of the team
  • The ability to be detail-oriented, with attention to accuracy and safety
  • The ability to prioritize and work productively as a member of the team
  • Demonstrate the ability to learn and develop new skills
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
