LJB Engineering Company seeks a Trenchless Rehabilitation Practice Lead with 15+ years in trenchless design and construction management to drive tunnel and trenchless projects across Canada. This full-time leadership role requires deep technical expertise and strong client relationships.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural/Geotechnical engineering or related field required.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng) or equivalent knowledge of trenchless rehab construction methods.

Responsibilities

  • Perform geotechnical engineering for trenchless design and construction of municipal water and wastewater facilities.
  • Produce structural/geotechnical calculations for trenchless rehab design (CIPP, sliplining, SAPL, spiral wound, pipe bursting, pipe ramming, etc.).
  • Develop proposals, cost estimates and schedules; lead tasks and teams; deliver technical documents.
  • Independently develop memoranda, letters, and reports.
  • Drive business development through trenchless project leads and client relationships in US/Canada.
  • Communicate technical information clearly in meetings with owners, contractors and stakeholders.
  • Increase company visibility through regional activities and industry involvement.
  • Office-based with standard hours; field work may occur.

Brief Description

LJB Engineering Company, is a national engineering consulting firm currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill a full-time Trenchless Rehabilitation Practice Lead role. This position will support our ongoing rapid growth in tunnel and trenchless design and construction management. The successful candidate will have over 15 years working on trenchless rehabilitation projects, including both design and construction phase roles, and possess the professional and interpersonal skills to make a positive impact on our firm and the clients we serve. We are looking for a motivated professional with a forward-thinking mindset, strong analytical problem-solving skills, and a collaborative spirit.

Compensation

$175,000+ based upon experience, certifications, and regional market standards.

Trenchless Rehabilitation Practice Lead Essential Functions
  • Perform geotechnical engineering associated with the trenchless design and construction of municipal water and wastewater conveyance facilities.
  • Produce structural and geotechnical engineering calculations as required in support of trenchless rehabilitation design including cured-in-place-pipe (CIPP), sliplining, spray applied pipe lining (SAPL), spiral wound pipe, pipe bursting, pipe ramming and others. Adhere to all applicable local and national codes of practice for design.
  • Develop proposals, cost estimates and schedules for trenchless and rehabilitation projects; lead tasks and teams and produce technical deliverables (construction plans and specifications, structural/geotechnical calculations, design reports, and technical memoranda) according to client specifications.
  • Independently develop technical memoranda, letters, and reports.
  • Responsible for business development activities including locating trenchless rehabilitation project leads, discussion of teaming and leveraging existing and new client relationships to secure an ongoing stream of new business to sustain and grow the business in US and Canada.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to communicate technical and non-technical information in a concise, professional manner, including participation in technical meetings and workshops with owners, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Increase LJB’s visibility with internal and external professionals by participating in regional initiatives, conferences, committees, and community associations, including any identified industry activities.
  • Office based assignments will require a standard weekday business hours work schedule. Field work may include weekday, night, and weekend work.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education
TRENCHLESS REHABILITATION PRACTICE LEAD ESSENTIAL CREDENTIALS
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant area of study required (Civil, Structural, Geological/Geotechnical, or related field), master’s degree preferred.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng) or equivalent knowledge of a wide range of trenchless rehabilitation construction methods and products.
Qualifications
  • 15+ years of relevant experience trenchless rehabilitation experience
  • Substantial professional project expertise in the planning, design and construction of a variety of tunnel and trenchless projects.
  • Technical engineering and field-level experience with delivering trenchless rehabilitation solutions for projects in soft ground and hard rock.
  • Experience with the inspection and design of rehabilitation measures for existing water/sewer tunnels and pipes.
  • Training and experience in project management.
  • Experience in proposal writing and job scoping.
  • Excellent problem solving, decision making and teamwork skills.
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant technical codes, operations, processes, and trends.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise independent judgment, interact with other staff, collaborate with other disciplines, and mentor junior staff
