Job summary

Bayshore HealthCare Ltd. invites Nurse Practitioners to join their Northern Staffing program serving remote communities across Canada.

You will provide primary and emergency care, work with Indigenous communities, and travel on assignments typically lasting 4 weeks with potential extensions. Expect competitive compensation, comprehensive orientation, ongoing professional development, and support from a dedicated team.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Licensed Nurse registered in good standing.
  • Willing to obtain a nursing license in provinces/territories worked in.
  • Meets the required work experience for NP role (see below).
  • Mandatory skillsets and additional training will be discussed in interview.

Responsibilities

  • Provide primary and emergency care in remote community clinics.
  • Perform expanded scope of practice with nursing team.
  • Contribute to health promotion, assessments and care planning.
  • Adhere to safety, IPAC and immunization guidelines.

Are you seeking an exciting career experience as a Nurse Practitioner in Canada's remote northern communities of Nunavut and Northwest Territories? Bayshore HealthCare’s Northern Staffing program has provided high-quality community health care solutions to Canada's North since 1997. Our Healthcare Professionals work closely with diverse Indigenous communities (First Nations, Inuit and Métis), providing care to community members. We hire passionate team-members from all over Canada who travel on assignments to remote northern communities of British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut. We provide a unique way to experience an expanded clinical scope of practice while enjoying an adventure at the same time! Average assignment durations are 4 weeks and can be extended if desired.

The work you will do:

  • Work in a team atmosphere performing an expanded scope of practice in communities, providing primary and emergency care to all residents –from newborn to elders –through a nursing station / Health Center in a clinic atmosphere
  • Utilize the skills of observation, assessment, nursing diagnosis, counseling, and health teaching according to care plan
  • Health Promotion, Assessments, planning and implementing care using Best Practice Clinical Practice Guidelines; primary care and emergency care; travel nursing; experience creating care plans; IPAC and communicable disease control, immunizations
  • Ensure that, on an ongoing basis, the emotional, spiritual, physical comfort and safety of clients are met to the greatest possible extent within the scope of practice

Who You Are:

  • You are a graduate from an accredited School of Nursingand havea nursing license through the governing body in good standing
  • You are a licensed Nurse registered in good standing
  • You have or are willing to obtain a nursing license through the regulating body in the provinces or territories you wish to work
  • You meet the required work experience
  • Mandatory skillsets and additional training requirements and reimbursements will be discussed during interview

Must have completed a minimum of 30 weeks (defined as 1125 regular working hours) of experience as a Nurse Practitioner within the past (4) four years OR completed a minimum of 12 weeks (defined as 450 regular working hours) of experience, within the past one (1) year, working in remote, isolated and/or semi-isolated communities
