Job summary

Bayshore HealthCare in Canada is seeking experienced nurses to join its Northern Staffing Program for 2-6 week assignments in remote northern communities across BC, AB, MB, ON and Nunavut.

You will provide primary and emergency care in a nursing station/clinic, with emphasis on observation, assessment, and health teaching, while supporting immunizations and travel nursing experiences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing required.
• Active nursing license in good standing.
• 3,000 hours in acute/critical care or 1,500–3,000 hours in remote/community health care (or 4,500 hours in Med-Surg in Nunavut).
• Willing to obtain licenses in provinces/territories where work is performed.

Responsibilities

• Provide primary and emergency care in nursing stations/Health Centers.
• Perform assessments, nursing diagnoses, counseling, and health teaching.
• Support health promotion, care planning, IPAC and immunizations.
• Ensure client safety and comfort within scope of practice.

The work you will do:

• Work in a team atmosphere performing an expanded scope of practice in communities, providing primary and emergency care to all residents -from newborn to elders -through a nursing station / Health Center in a clinic atmosphere
• Utilize the skills of observation, assessment, nursing diagnosis, counseling, and health teaching according to care plan
• Health Promotion, Assessments, planning and implementing care using Best Practice Clinical Practice Guidelines; primary care and emergency care; travel nursing; experience creating care plans; IPAC and communicable disease control, immunizations
• Ensure that, on an ongoing basis, the emotional, spiritual, physical comfort and safety of clients are met to the greatest possible extent within the scope of practice

Who You Are:

• You are a graduate from an accredited School of Nursingand havea nursing license through the governing body in good standing
• You are a licensed Nurse registered in good standing
• You have or are willing to obtain a nursing license through the regulating body in the provinces or territories you wish to work
• You meet the required work experience

Bachelors or better.

Experience

Required

A minimum of 3,000 hours within the past 3-5 years in acute or critical care nursing, specifically in areas such as the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, or other acute care settings.

OR 1,500 - 3,000 hours within the past 3-5 years providing care in remote, isolated, or semi-isolated communities as a Community Health Nurse.

OR 4500 Hours within the past 5 years in Med-Surg (* Nunavut only)
