As a Travel Clinic Assistant with Vancouver Coastal Health, you will:

  • Work as a member of an integrated team and plays a significant role in ensuring that clients have a positive experience with the designated service within a fast paced, high volume clinic environment.
  • Functions include administrative support, scheduling and confirming client appointments, greeting clients and visitors, inputting client information into computerized client information systems, typing technical and non-technical material, composing and signing correspondence and responding to general inquiries related to the Travel Clinic.
  • Assist the community/public health nurse and other team members in the organization and operation of immunization clinics.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • Grade 12, a Medical Office Assistant Certificate supplemented by one (1) year recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Valid BC Driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle for business related purposes, as required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of office practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in relevant software. (Word, Excel, graphic applications)
  • Ability to keyboard 5,000 keystrokes per hour.
  • Medical Terminology.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively with others.
  • Ability to be sensitive, tactful and diplomatic with clients and the public.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work and deal effectively with changing priorities.
  • Ability to compile information.
  • Ability to perform relevant calculations.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
