Job summary

City of Vancouver is seeking a Civil Engineer I to lead active transportation and public realm design, and to support policy development for transportation improvements. You will collaborate with engineers and planners to prepare design deliverables and manage data analysis, while representing the city in stakeholder discussions.

Ideal candidates hold a Civil Engineering degree with PE and have 3+ years in transportation or walking/cycling projects, with strong leadership and communication

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a PE designation and 3+ years of related experience in transportation or walking/cycling design.
• Knowledge of transportation design guidelines, project management, and coordination with multiple stakeholders.
• Strong leadership, communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Develops conceptual street and public realm designs with engineers and design professionals.
• Contributes to development of policy and guidelines related to transportation design.
• Oversees engineering assistants in design tasks and quality control.
• Prepares deliverables such as memos, geometrics, sign/paint plans and data analyses.
• Liaises with internal/external branches and agencies on design deliverables.
• Oversees data collection and analysis for design projects.
• Participates in public consultation processes for designs.
• Supports procurement and oversees consultants as needed.
