Job summary

Element Technical Services Inc. is seeking an Air Can Operator / Transport Driver at their Red Deer base.

This role drives tractor and pneumatic trailer, loading, unloading, and delivering materials per dispatch, while following DOT rules and aiming for safe, efficient operations. The position offers a 14 days on, 7 days off schedule, a $2,000 signing bonus, comprehensive benefits, RRSP matching, ongoing training, and PPE provided.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Drive and operate tractor and pneumatic trailer to load/unload or disperse materials per dispatch.
• Follow DOT rules, hours of service, and safety procedures; asset to haul over-dimensional loads.
• Know sight glasses, check points and fill points; assist inventory and maintenance.
• Understand Air Can procedures; load tickets and axle weights.
• Follow fall protection requirements and pre-use inspections.
• Complete pre/post trip inspections and conduct safety meetings.
• Maintain driver logs and vehicle service records; communicate with team.
• Mentor less experienced coworkers as required.
• Ensure compliance with transportation legislation and safety standards.

Job Description:

• Drive and operate the tractor and pneumatic trailer to load, unload, or disperse materials as required by the Element logistics dispatch team. Follow all applicable DOT rules and regulations and hours of service. Ability to haul over-dimensional heavy loads would be an asset.
• Knowledge of tools and parts required on the unit for inventory and maintenance purposes
• Know where the sight glasses, check points and fill points are including grease points
• Complete understanding of Air Can procedures
• Fall protection requirement including pre-use inspection, proper fit and use the fall arrest harness and equipment
• Completion of loading tickets
• Loading the unit adhering to allowable weights per axle
• Train and mentor less experienced co-workers as required
• Perform pre and post trip inspections on equipment operated, ensuring safety and roadworthiness
• Attend pre-job safety meetings
• Comply with applicable legislation including safe operation, driver’s hours of service, occupational health and safety, transportation of dangerous goods, fatigue management
• Maneuver equipment following appropriate hand signals.
• Maintain driver logs of working hours and of vehicle service and repair status.
• Maintains effective communication with co-workers
