Job summary

Stantec in Markham, Ontario, is seeking a Transmission Line Team Lead to oversee project design and mentor engineers. In this role, you'll lead a team delivering high-quality power line projects while maintaining client satisfaction and compliance with engineering practices.

The ideal candidate has at least 10 years of overhead power transmission experience and the ability to effectively communicate and manage projects. A full range of benefits is provided to regular full-time employees.

At Stantec, we design and build infrastructure that helps power sustainable solutions worldwide. Our transmission line engineering group seeks a Transmission Line Team Lead who will lead project design, mentor engineers, and maintain high standards of quality and client satisfaction.

Your Opportunity

This role is located in Ontario and involves overseeing a fast‑growing team of engineers on power line projects. The Team Lead will ensure compliance with Stantec’s Engineering Practices and provide leadership in technical training and client relationship building.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Lead a team of Transmission Line Engineers and Designers to deliver project milestones.
• Oversee projects, set clear directions, enforce expectations, and foster teamwork.
• Manage workload and priorities in collaboration with Project Managers and the Engineering Manager.
• Provide mentorship, coaching, and technical direction to the team.
• Perform quality checks, audits, and contribute to continuous improvement plans.
• Understand and apply industry and client standards for design and engineering.
• Integrate the latest safe practices and methods into design.
• Participate in recruitment and workforce management, including performance evaluations and training plans.
• Serve as a senior resource for design from conceptual through construction.
• Coordinate with clients, managers, and internal teams to ensure timely, high‑quality deliverables.
• Support proposal development, budgeting, and resource planning with the Engineering Manager.
• Travel to client sites and offices as required during project definition, design, and construction.

Education and Experience

• Degree in Structural, Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
• Registered with the relevant Engineering Provincial Association.
• Minimum 10 years of overhead power transmission line design and engineering experience.
