Job summary

TD is seeking an Architecture Specialist to lead domain-specific architecture work, guiding structure, design and technology choices. You will influence multi-team decisions and align IT strategy with enterprise architecture across TD’s technology landscape.

You’ll partner with business units to drive architecture governance, modern patterns, and high-impact initiatives while delivering solutions that balance performance, cost, and risk.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate Degree or Technical Certificate; graduate degree preferred.
• 10+ years relevant experience.
• Experience with patterns and implementation of Events, Microservices, containers, cloud native, apigateway and Rest API.
• Experience with microservice orchestration frameworks and technologies (Camunda, FluxNova, etc)
• Industry Domain experience in Core Banking Products (Ledgers, Finacle, DDA & Term Deposits, Credit Products)
• Working experience with Data platforms (Azure, Data Bricks, Unity, Data Modeling, Kafka)
• Working knowledge of SAFe Agile.
• A self-starter and able to elaborate business requirements to build out a solution.
• Demonstrated experience in providing technical leadership, consulting and direction to a larger team on all aspects of architecture to ensure advanced learning occurs.
• Strength in influencing product direction and integrating technology from an architectural perspective within the business environment, and can fulfill an IT governance role.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with various teams and solution architects to understand problems and business requirements, assisting with issue resolution and solution alignment.
• Guide architecture & engineering teams to define reusable patterns, leverage modern architectural approaches (DDD, DevOps, Events, Cloud, Microservices, Data Pipelines)
• Experience designing Container based solutions on Kubernetes and/or designing Kubernetes clusters (Azure AKS)
• Lead design and development of an architecture framework to govern how solutions will be produced and implemented, including technology domain architecture strategy, policies, guiding principles and standards.
• Oversee and define development specifications, technical requirements, system performance objectives, identify necessary system modifications.
• Identify, recommend, source, negotiate, implement emerging IT trends, developments and improvements and solutions (buy, build, reuse).
• Research and analyze business requirements to recommend optimal architecture solutions.
• Participate as a top expert and consultant on high-risk and complex initiatives.
• Provide insight and recommendations to develop and implement system architecture with business units and technology departments while creating awareness of total ownership costs.
• Impart subject matter expertise to influence vendors on product design, develop and contribute to third-party contract negotiations where applicable.
• Build consensus, facilitate collaboration and decision-making within and across business units so IT strategy aligns with architecture framework.
• Apply industry and technical knowledge to provide solutions that increase business results and minimize risk.
• Lead in knowledge transfer meetings with senior management, team, other technical areas and business units.
